We stayed in Nags Head and took the free ferry from Hatteras. We arrived at the Ferry dock at 11:00 and were placed on the 11:15 ferry. The crossing is about 40 min. Once there you drive about 13 miles to the town. Along the way you pass many turn offs for the beach with ample parking. The pony pens...
