Obviously, this is Charlotte, not New York or Paris. Hence, no masterpieces await in this small museum that exists mainly on the back of corporate giving, rich people indulgence, and the odd wedding booking. But if you're staying downtown, like art museums, and have (at most) an hour to kill, this is about the middle of the bell curve of... More

To be honest, I wouldn't make a special trip to this museum unless there was a special event planned. e.g. jazz music or other type of even. Having said that, the Bechler Museum is next door and that is worth a visit, so you can easily do both and have an enjoyable time.

I attended a wedding at this location. Very classy. Beautifully decorated outside and everything was well planned. At one point the bride and groom disappeared. Attention was called and then a wall rose to present them as husband and wife. I don't know the cost but it seems to be well worth it.

Very well-organized, separated into both permanent collections and visiting collections. Signs and explanatory notes were very clear and well-written. The glasswork exhibit, and especially the Chihuly chandelier in the lobby, were my favorites. The gift shop was one of the nicer ones I've seen at an art museum. The admission cost also allows you entrance to the Mint Museum on... More

Located in a great looking modern building, this museum is good for the big and small. We started with the art exhibits on the upper floors and finished the trip with the lower floor that has one of the best childrens areas I have seen for an art museum. Plenty of interactive things for kids to do and a nice... More

I did not go into the museum, but its restaurant (located on the second floor of The Mint building) was so enjoyable and relaxing. The decor was upscale but the prices were not! The view from the balcony was lovely. The name of it was The Halcyon and the theme is earth friendly/seasonal, local food. The sweet potato coffee cake... More

This museum was about a block away from our hotel, so we decided to walk over and check it out. We enjoyed the rather eclectic collection, especially marvelling over some lovely glass and wood art exhibits and groupings. There was also a special exhibit exploring food and cooking which was quite fun and interesting. In addition the museum has an... More

Exhibits were nicely done and interesting. The museum could offer more as there is a lot of wasted space in the building. I was most interested in the Arts and Crafts exhibits; they were very good but I thought from previous reviews, the exhibit would be more evolutionary but this was definitely not the case. All in all, enjoyable.

The museum itself is beautiful, and set on a main street which is a treat to walk. We even found street parking and enjoyed the Gift Shop afterwards. However, of course, the main attraction is the unique artwork fashioned in glass, wood, fabric, steel, and ceramic. Real eye candy! We spent far longer in the museum than we planned, but... More

Visited the museum on a Saturday afternoon. Two permanent and two temporary exhibits. Everything was well organized, friendly staff. Nice permanent pieces with a selection of various materials (wood, glass, etc.). The F.O.O.D temporary exhibit is definitely worth a visit. Interesting and amusing, with a "menu" to identify the items, and a fun "recipe" board for visitors. Definitely worth the... More
