We visited in July. It was busy and lots of folks had come out to see the Blackbeard exhibit. We enjoyed it and was worth the zero cost of admission ;)

This kind of thing doesn't really interest me but it was free. It would be interesting if this was the kind of thing you enjoyed.

Accompanied some of our guests in Fall of 2011. Everyone enjoyed & hope to return this year.

This museum offers an impressive collection of artifacts and information related to North Carolina's maritime heritage including, of course, Blackbeard the pirate.
Many boat models, some full-size boats, interactive displays and a huge whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling all add to the rich experience. An extensive library of books on maritime topics, many of them quite rare, is also...

It's a nice museum, and they've spent a lot of money on the new exhibit on the discovery of Blackbeard's pirate ship. Some really interesting objects and a nice presentation. Lots of really neat artifacts (as a museum person, I like a lot of neat artifacts), and the kids enjoyed seeing the models, and the exhibits. Spent about an hour...

Opened at 10am, we were the first in and were able to walk around and view without bumping into other visitors. Within 30 minutes the museum was very crowded. There was no admission fee the day we visited. Parking is challenging in this area so i would def arrive early. Very exciting to see some of Blackbeards treasure!!!

My primary reason for this visit was...

Last year they opened the Blackbeard exhibit - authentic artifacts from the actual Queen Anne's Revenge which evidently...
