This is a real must but make sure you have the time to discover the underground "galleries" as well as the Church.

This is what St Emilion is famous for and it's definitely worth going in to find out more about it's history.
I had the pleasure to see the Monolithic Church in Saint-Emillion in the Bordeaux region of France. The town is awesome as it retains it's 8th to 16th century feel throughout. A place to breath in the beautiful architecture with the smell of ancient vin yards. You wont see another like it. I like the preservation effort and wish other caretakers around the world would take note. Knowledgeable tour guide, well-presented.
History and architecture is all over bordeaux.....the chimes from the church through the day makes it a pleasure to live in the old part of the town and takes one right back to medieval bordeaux....the old houses by the river front are still beautifully maintained and lived in just as they were a long time ago in history.....
Very interesting visit. The massive rock carved church is worth the visit, as well as the place where the hermit St Emilion lived.
While on a business/pleasure trip in France, we were booked one day for a wine tasting/lunch at one of the Chateaus in the area. Our guide completed our afternoon with a most amazing tour of St. Emilion and the underground tunnels of the church.
This was indeed far more than I expected. What a wonderful treat to see this and...

Booked our trip at Ophorus in Bordeaux. Our gide Isabelle was more or less a walking enceclopedia: she told us everything (?) about Bordeaux wines, as well about the historic site of Saint Emilion!

We were staying in Bordeaux and wanted to visit the wine country of St Emilion so we booked the train from Gare St.Jean to the village. Of course when we arrived there was no taxi, so we hiked about 4 km up along the vineyards, to...
