I ski here for a few days every year to keep my ski legs in shape during the summer (North America). I have never stayed at any of the lodges because I don't want to stay here a week, so I can only comment on the skiing facility. AWESOME! I stay in Santiago and take the Ski Total bus up.....about... I took this tour with a company whose brochure has a green cover. The ad showed people trekking, so I was keen, although I did not expect a long trek since it was mid afternoon when we set off. All it turned out to be was a drive up the mountain,, which was a little nerveracking courtesy of the first... More

You are in Santiago. Rent a car (possibly with little mileage). Have a GPS (I got lost going out of Santiago) Drive carefully. Now you start climbing/driving a challenging road. And more challenging... Worth the short drive (to go 1.5hours) till around 5000meters on sea level. Difficult to breath, but you are on the Andes!! The resort is nothing special,... More

The trip and the place is awesome, people who says is not spectacular should be eye tested, the thing here is not the place on itself, is infrastructure bar coffee shops gear hire, everything will cost you a small fortune, a cup of coffee not cappuccino in one of the more simple open coffee shops will cost you about USD... There are 3 major ski centers in this part of Chile near Farellones - Valle Nevado, La Parva & El Colorado. Of the 3, Valle Nevado is the most built-up, family friendly, & tourist-geared resort compared to the other 2- which means it's also a bit more expensive. The quality of the skiing itself is the same (i think) on... More

I usually ski in Europe and I have skied in Canada and USA. I wanted the experience of skiing in South America, having missed the European ski season. I stayed in Santiago and visited Valle Nevado for a day. It was an expensive excursion, so I had cut out the middle-man, hotel pick-up for transfer to the ski rental shop... More

We visited Valle Nevado for a day, from our hotel in Santiago. I used to live near the Swiss Alps so might have a skewed sense of what to expect from a ski resort but since this day cost more than a day skiing in Switzerland I think it's OK to directly compare the experiences. First, it takes over two... More

We stayed in down town Santiago and took a day trip with 'All To Ski', we had a fab day points to note are; 1. The transfer took 2 hours each way by minibus. 2. Lift pass was 35,000.00 Chilean Peso (£47.00) despite several lifts being closed. 3. Limited resort facilities 4. Many runs were unavailable due to closure of... More

As a fan of ski, I went last week-end on Sunday for a wonderful skiing day. Actually, the price is extremely high (70 USD / day), giving the opportunity to use 10 different tracks, the rest of it (5 best tracks) being our of order (the best 5 lifting installation were not working). In other word, they pretend (and the... More

We went to Valle Nevado in the first half of August for a week of skiing. The entire resort is above the tree line so it looks more like a New Zealand mountain - wide open and no trees and limited moguls. The slopes did not feel crowded and during the weekdays they seemed almost empty at times. There is... More
