The gorge is about 1.5 miles long. So round trip you are talking about 3 miles. Most of the amazing cuts are in the first half mile. The park is easy to get to, as it is virtually right down town. I would certainly recommend visiting Watkins Glen if you're in the neighborhood and even if you have to make a detour for it.... We took the Gorge trail and while I LOVED everything about it; it is somewhat of a bad idea to bring anyone that is afraid of heights. This is a state park and has most amenities needed. Has bathrooms at the top and bottom of the gorge as well as gift shops and eateries.
