Watkins Glen State Park is one of the best state parks I have ever been to. I live just a little ways away, and I come here as often as I can. In the last month or so, I've been to this park either hiking or just picnicing four times. Throughout the gorge there are several waterfalls, lots of crevaces,... More

The Watkins Glen State Park is a superb experience, even ( according to my daughter) better than the Niagara Falls). Climbing through the gorge - lots of steps: mind, if your knees are not too happy with walking stairs, bring a walking stick - gives you one wow-moment after the other. The sheer variety of all the cascades is breathtaking.... More

The pool is enormous, Plenty of room to spread out. Also has plenty of room for an afternoon picnic. Plenty of sun and shade.

The Watkins Glen State Park surrounds the area around the gorge, and is very beautiful. As in the gorge, there are a lot of hiking trails, which are shaded overhead by stands of magnificent trees. If you visit this park, keep your eyes open for interesting wildlife on the trees themselves. We saw lots of huge moths, some neat salamanders,... More

The gorge is about 1.5 miles long. So round trip you are talking about 3 miles. Most of the amazing cuts are in the first half mile. The park is easy to get to, as it is virtually right down town. There is a nice gifts shop and bathrooms just inside the entrance. We were there on a weekday evening... More

I would certainly recommend visiting Watkins Glen if you're in the neighborhood and even if you have to make a detour for it.... We took the Gorge trail and while I LOVED everything about it; it is somewhat of a bad idea to bring anyone that is afraid of heights. Some of the (spectacular) views are too much for vertigo-sufferers.... More

This is an unbelievably fun, inspiring place to spend an afternoon with family or friends! There are great photo opportunities all over the park. The waterfalls are astoundingly beautiful! Also, we enjoyed the sturdy, clear pathways - it was easier for our large group to stay together and for elder family members to hike. We were able to bring an... More

Thank goodness I have been doing Zumba for the last 6 months, it's 850+ steps one way on a mile and a half hike! Beautiful views, I even got to see a beaver below one of the falls, taking a break from whatever he was doing before. There is a shuttle that will either transport you up or down for... More

It truly was a beautiful visit and well worth going to...The cost for a day pass was only $8 for the entire car. Easy to get to with 1.5 mile hike in and then back...Going in was uphill, but fairly easy trip and SO well worth the time it took to go in. The paths along the way were made... More

This is a state park and has most amenities needed. Has bathrooms at the top and bottom of the gorge as well as gift shops and eateries. The walk up is amazing as you walk past all the waterfalls and naturally carved out rock formations. It is 864 steps up the one and a half mile walk to the top.... More
