Huge place.. with lotsa historic things, allowed us to take photos, and the guide was also very helpful and informative.. saw some amazing things like the first dhow of zanzibar.. wow!

The House of Wonders is an interesting place to visit with permanent displays relating to the history of Zanzibar as well as changing exhibitions. It's worth going to the top floor for some really good views and photos.

A very stunning building but the whole place could do with repainting and/or cleaning or just a really good dust!! Like a lot of the places in Stone Town they look a bit tired and dilapidated which id a big pity. It would be so easy to make them spectacular!

Poor lighting made the exhibits and interpretative signs hard to see. The building itself is very interesting, with its long staircases and wrap-around verandas; the view from the upper veranda is gorgeous.

it is full of information about Zanzibar and has various displays showing clothing and furniture and such from times gone by plus a large dhow in the middle that was made by sewing the skins together covering the boat. There is also an excellent view from the second floor balcony but the stairways are about 50 steps each.
