Stand where he stood, take a picture with the monument, go for boatrides across the river nile and into Lake Victoria, see monkeys, monitor lizards, pythons (and maybe even an authentic African Witchdoctor). The site also allows for camping, nature walks, parties and occasions with a truly spectacular nature setting. Ideal for Birdwatching and anyone looking for 1 day tour in the Ugandan Countryside. « less

The gardens are pleasant and well kept and the monument has some information. A pleasant walk down to the river and bird-spotting. Not a lot else to do More

Okay, first of all we didn't actually go into the area, because we'd read it wasn't at all worth it. But we went down the road towards the area to see if we could see the river and took a picture (it wasn't much of a view from there but still). The guy at the entrance then popped his head... More

Dear Elsie, sorry to hear about your experience at the Source of the Nile, however just to help us improve our service kindly let me know if this incident happened on the Jinja side of the Nile or at our location which is on the other side of the River BEFORE you cross over the big bridge, where the actual... This is was all very well organised, net and clean. I remember it from the old days when it wasn't really set up for tourism. More

I have visited here twice now. It is not overrun by tourists (yet). There are some nice stalls where handcrafts and other tourist items are sold. A few places to have a drink and you can walk a bit into the Nile on metal beams connecting a small island. Combine this with a ride along the Nile up North to... More

Really beautiful and relaxing experience to take a boat to the source of the nile. The source used to be a beautiful waterfall but because of the dam built for energy the water level is flat between the lake and nile. however it was still really fun to be at the source. to get to egypt just travel 4,000 miles... If you come to Jinja, then you need to go to the Source of the Nile. You can approach the Source of the Nile from either side of the Nile. The one with the Speke Monument is probably the nicer and you won't be harassed quite as much. Unfortunately it is on the opposite side of the river from Jinja,... More

I love visiting the source - it's interesting to see the waters merge - and it is a peaceful and beautiful place. More

It is so beautiful and amazing. The people were very friendly, the kids were all smiling and you really feel like they are happy to meet you and want to talk to people from other countries in the world and learn what else is out there. great souvenirs (all hand made). A natural experience experience. More

When in the Jinja area, a visit to "The Source of the Nile Gardens" and the Speke monument is well worth making. It's on the left bank of the Nile as it leaves Lake Victoria, so if coming from Kampala, turn off to the right just before the Nile Dam/Bridge and follow signs for the Kingfisher Safari Resort (also well...
