If you like quaint, then this is a cottage you want to visit. The grounds are nicely kept and the tour of the cottage was done with guides in period clothing. I loved the inside of the cottage as it has so many unique features. My goal is to paint the cottage in watercolor. The gift shop was also very... More

This property is stunning, the house is so charming and the tour timing is just perfect. Bring a picnic bc you are allowed to stay and enjoy as long as you wish. Don't miss the movie which is off to the side of the gift shop in a barn. More

We went on a candleligth tour of the house at Christmas and the tour guides were full of information. It was a lovely Saturday evening and the paths were lit by candles. The Hudson River was visible as was the Rockland County side of the river. More

His house is so interesting, and the tour guide was great. The personality, history and decoration brought Irving to life in the minds' eye. The grounds are beautiful. Without telling too much, I will just say it was well worth the visit. More

Lovely visit. The place is beautifully maintained and its a quick tour. Unfortunately, the guide was not receptive to questions; however, the place itself is magnificent. More

My husband and I took a little trip to see Sunnyside. It's a really interesting house, with lots of cool architecture and artifacts. The tour guides dress up. You have a gorgeous view of the Hudson, as well as some nice gardens and little pathways to meander about. It was raining the day we were there, but it was still... More

Before visiting Sunnyside, I downloaded the book on tape on our iPad. We played it one night at story time. Being familiar with the story made the tour so much interesting for all of us. There is a gift shop on the property where almost everything they sell relates to this story, although Washington Irving authored several other interesting works.... More

This, the home of noted American author Washington Irving is a true treasure. Designed by the author himself with the assistance of neighbor and artist, giving the home it's eclectic romanticism. Guides are dressed in period costume and give visitors a vivid picture of the life of this beloved author. More
