Nine mile long Otsego Lake is a great asset to Cooperstown!
If you stand at the bottom of the lake you have great views up the sides (you can't see the end of the lake where Glimmerglass State Park is) clockwise including the golf course, the Otesaga, The Fenimore Museum, the bark house at the Farmers Museum, as well as...

This is why New York is so often a pleasant surprise to visitors from across the country and around the world. This area is beautiful and full of culture and charm and good food and drink.
We took the time to drive pretty much around the whole lake. It is truly lovely. You just don't expect it to be that way. What is interesting is that because of the lake, the Baseball HOF was created!
clean lake, beautiful shorelines, great swimming, even with a bit of a chill it is heaven to swim and float in, reminds one of on golden pond fairy springs and 3 mile point for public access

You can also go to Glimmerglass park where there is boating, swimming and spots to grill on a small beach. July and August are the best times to go as the rest of the year it's pretty...

We drove around the lake and took some beautiful pictures of the fall foliage around the lake. The reflection of the boathouse in the middle of the lake was breath taking!
