So I loved the historic atmosphere and the ecelectic crowd that always gathers in places like this but I can't say much for the actual shopping. Great area if you are the artsy type. The Taos plaza is quaint, interesting, but crowded and small.
Its a great place to wander in and out of shops & sit on benches to people watch. Parking off the plaza and walking a couple blocks was our choice and we were glad we did. Lots of traffic. Pricey and touristy. OK for a one time visit, but not...

Hate the metered parking. Drive around on my last day I saw the sign to free parking. Fairly good selections, couldnt find reasonable t shirts. Good for wandering

My wife and I drove around the plaza while we were in Taos. It was small and a little crowded. After visiting the plaza in Santa Fe we were underwhelmed and decided to move on to the next stop.

Quaint area, in the center of Taos with little boutiques, fairly priced, and also souvi. shops and galleries. I found a sombrero for $5.99 versus $10 in Santa Fe.
