Two and a half miles of shady and sunny paths along a river and up cliff walks. Fairly easy climb up stony paths and steps as well as an easier route for wheel chairs. Stunning scenery but not quite as stunning as Watkins Glen State Park in New York State. More

If I could build a little house here and rope it off from the world, it's where I'd live. Great hike, both moderate and easier trails. When you get up past the 1.5 mile marker, it gets interesting. There is a suspended swaying bridge, lots of volcanic formations, and when the river is full after a good winter, it's just... More

Great short easy hike. Trail winds up the canyon on a combination of dirt trail, bridges and catwalks. The day was a beautiful fall day. The walk was steep in places, but nothing beyond moderate overall. Follow the river through rock falls and pools (1.25 miles one way). Wonderful excursion! Handicap accessible on lower portion of trail. More

If your within the proximity of The Catwalks in New Mexico then you have to stop and make this hike. We went in October with two young boys (4 & 2) who found something amazing to marvel at around every corner. Do know this is an "in and out" hike. So once you make it to the suspension bridge you... If you are anywhere near Glenwood, NM, you will want to take the time to visit the Catwalk Trail. It winds up a narrow canyon along a small creek. It is an easy trail for anyone, even smaller children. There are a couple of places where you can go down to the creek and play in the water. Be sure... More

Absolutely worth the time & effort. Takes the majority of a day to get there & back from Silver City and to enjoy the walk & river. Tip: There is a long staircase from the trail to the river in one spot. However, if you bypass it and keep walking, you'll come to a lovely spot where you can access... More

A 1.1 mile hike (2.2 miles round trip), the catwalk is definitely worth doing. It's a really cool adventure for the kids. The coolest part comes within the first 1/2 mile, so they don't have to hike far to see the good stuff, where the canyon was carved out by the river. They also do a good job of describing... More

I have four kids, ages 4 to 10, and they were NOT thrilled about the prospect of extra driving on our Southern California to San Antonio roadtrip. But once we arrived at the Catwalk Trail, about an hour's drive from our hotel in Silver City, NM, we all knew it was well worth it! Unlike anything we had seen before,... More
