The Smokey Bear museum is small but interesting. It is worth the stop if you are going through but not worth going real far out of your way. About $2.

This is a modest park in Capitan that captures a lot in a little acreage. Very worthwhile stop. Educational museum, good shopping, and lots of play area/picnic area for families. Early May is the time to celebrate Smokey Bear Days (street closed for parade, music, chainsaw carving) but still easy access.
