We saw the prison and the grounds - it was like a history lesson - but something I really found informative and it made me understand the history behind the country and the wars it has gone through. More

Spending money on renewal of torture objects, fencing etc, but road to Prison is so bad, make sure you have comfortable vehicle to travel in. Plenty of Propaganda material. Not a place I'd recommend. More

The Coconut Tree prison is being reconstructed to reflect what it looked like in the days when it was a prison. There are extremely graphic depictions of the torture that took place there. The exhibition loses some of it's potential to educate by by seeming to be more of an exercise in propaganda with emotive terms such as "American puppet... More

At the time I visited this prison they were completely restoring the place to its former 'glory'. Lot of barbed wire and 'in your face torture' techniques. More

Some sections were under repair and did not think it was well kept up for tourists to go through on their own. More

It doesn't get much more authentic than visiting an actual prison on a Vietnamese island. Very untouched in terms of turning it into a tourist attraction (minus the mannequins!) More

The prison is being reconstructed on its original site. There is a building with pictures and statues demonstrating the atrocities that happened on this beautiful island. You can walk around the buildings which show the life and torture which happened here. There is no admission fee and takes around half an hour to see it. In the future, this site... More
