I bring my 7 yr old daughter and there is no sneaking cig's or pot AND no alcohol on beach. Only problem is it cost $$$ even for kids to enter the beach area :(

Ship Bottom Beach is located on LBI. It is the first beach as you come over the causeway, which makes this one of the best things about the beach. The driving on the island can be very slow in the summer months so the location of this beach if it is a "day trip' is perfect. The only down side...

Beach is lovely, pristine, not commercial and makes a great walk offseason. There are even a few benches on the beach. I understand that people need a pass in season but the motel (Drifting Sands) gives them to guests.
