We were in the area for a hockey tournament (staying in Wayne, NJ) and We were looking for something different to do, so we headed for the hills. Visiting Ringwood Manor was lovely and historically interesting. It was free to enter the grounds off-season ($5 pkg in Summer). You could spend hours walking around the park and we encountered a... While visiting the Skyland's Manor over Valentine's Day, we took a beautiful winter hike up the mountain behind, and in particular enjoyed the well managed trails that are maintained by the NY NJ Trail Conference, which we are also members. The weather was crisp and cold and we had an invigorating hike as the temperatures remained in the 30s during... More

We tried to walk around the lake, but the path is restricted to the north where it enters New York state, so you can only go... More

Located in northern New Jersey near the New York State border, RINGWOOD MANOR is a 50 plus room mansion featuring a variety of architectural styles that reflect the Victorian Period. My cousin took me to see the Ringwood Manor on a recent visit to New Jersey. The park has many many structures and sites of historical significance, including the huge links that were part of a chain was used during the Revolutionary War across the Hudson River. There was also a nice art show in one of the buildings. There... More

Wonderful daytrip to take with your significant other, or to bring the kids. Definitely also stroll around the Skylands Botanical Gardens, which are even more gorgeous.

If you are interested in history this is a place to visit for you. The ringwood area was key to the development of the iron ore industry during and after the Revolutionary War. In fact the iron chain that crosses the Hudson River near West Point was made in the iron ore factories in Ringwood. The present manor was built... More
