The church is quite beautiful and has a fantasitc history revolving around its foundig priest, Monsignor Minogue. The docent gave a very lively talk about the church, as well as the influence and the import of the Mackey family...(and she took on our group even though it was close to closing--she had a great spirit). I think it's the oldest Catholic Church in Nevada.. beautiful.. check out the wines they sell at the gift shop.. grapes are grown in Napa, but they sell the bottles here, Actually Catholic Churches are not allowed to sell libations, but this one does--- as a for them to support themselves.. Virginia City is nestled in the valley between some decent-size mountains (for a flat-lander) just south of Reno, Nevada. Even in the chill of Fall-going-into-Winter, this is a fun place to visit.
