Enjoyed hours playing the slots at the Cal Neva again. Good drink service. and also enjoyed the Top Deck for a few meals. Reasonable in price and food is good.
This place looks like it hasn't had a bath (inside and out) in 30+ years. It's pretty run down, dark, and feels dirty. BUT..... They have killer deals on food! Cheap Prime-Rib and breakfast meals. My prime rib dinner was $5! And it was delicious!
I think this is still one of the places that continues to have cheap food as a draw for gamblers. The hot dog and beer in the sports book is still a deal and the diner has cheap food specials that aren't bad. But really the Cal-Neva is a place to gamble without high table minimums. I've never really understood... More
The earlier reviewer who stated that Cal-Neva feels like old Reno hit it on the head. They still have the old fashioned three reel slots where the max bet is three coins. I enjoy a little slot play and some table games but don't care to lose a ton of money so these were perfect for my idea of fun... More
This place sucks! It's filthy. Some sort of insect chewed my legs up pretty well while I sat and played Blackjack. Fleas?? The dealers are bad, the customers are terrible, the food sucks, there is nothing good about this place except for the value of watching the worst people gather together in the worst casino in the world.
I have been frequenting Cal-Neva since 1966 and other than changes that naturally occur over time, the feel and the service provided by the employees is refreshing. To see familiar, smiling faces who welcome you like an old friend, who by the same token make newcomers feel important and invited to the inner circle is a pleasure unsurpassed in Reno.
I play texas hold em on my tablet and facebook all the time and had always wanted to try a "real" game. Cal-Neva has a tournament 3x a day which if the cheapest in town to buy into. In talking to the table manager he explained the rules and was so nice about making sure I understood everything and gave... More
Good food at very reasonable prices. This place is just across the street from Harrah's. So, go there when you are hungry.
When is Reno we always play Black Jack at Cal Neva. We are basically cheap and Cal Neva has $3.00 single deck games. It isn't the prettiest or glitziest casino but the dealers are friendly, cocktail waitress quick and abundant and you can't beat $3.00 Black Jack.
nice hotel, my mother loved it when we wend. nice quite casino. not buy like the hussle and bussle of Las Vegas. You can actually win and not worry about someone knocking you over your head and taking your money. nice place.
