No one there when we went. But at least they didn't charge us admission. More

This is a very complete train museum with everything from steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars and cabooses, to snow removal equipment and cranes. You can ride the trains and even operate them if you wish. The gift shop is very nice and all the volunteers and staff are friendly. More

When in Ely, don't miss this wonderful museum, a place to step back into time. A vanishing era. Ride a Steam Train! Visit the vast machine shop with a dozen more engines and cars in the building. Just like it used to be. Not a replica. This is a real steam train yard. Upstairs in the museum building are many... More

This was one of the oddest museums I have ever been too. It costs $8.00 for adults and kids are free. They give you a map of the Train yard and you walk around by yourself looking at trains. It is kind of creepy in a way because of how old the buildings and trains are. We were able to... More

I have been there twice and it is without doubt a wonderful experience. I have operated both a diesel and steam locomotive. This trip I got to operate a whole steam train, few places in the world have this opportunity . Forget simulators, forget slot machines and TV shows this is the real deal with smoke and steam and dirt.... More

I like trains, so that was why I was in Ely, most recently. I had passed through this cross roads town before, on the way to other places during cross-country trips. This time I finally planned a trip to Ely to visit Ely and the Nevada Northern Railway. My mission was for me and my dad to drive a steam... More

If you wish to take a train ride please enjoy yourself but I'd avoid the evening bar-b-que train ride. Once you figure in the cost of the train ride plus the cost of the meal you pay way too much for too little. The food was very dissapointing both in quality and quantity. More
