This is a very complete train museum with everything from steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars and cabooses, to snow removal equipment and cranes. You can ride the trains and even operate them if you wish. The gift shop is very nice and all the volunteers and staff are friendly.

I have been there twice and it is without doubt a wonderful experience. I have operated both a diesel and steam locomotive. This trip I got to operate a whole steam train, few places in the world have this opportunity . If you wish to take a train ride please enjoy yourself but I'd avoid the evening bar-b-que train ride. Once you figure in the cost of the train ride plus the cost of the meal you pay way too much for too little. The food was very dissapointing both in quality and quantity.

The Musem of the Northen Nevada Rail way is pretty cool because in encompasses the the whole rail yard, which is a working rail yard. so you get to see how how the operation runs, which pretty neat. we went on the 4th of july train which included bbq and the train ride with Ely fire works at the end...
