The sky does seem bigger here making the mountains seem smaller than they are. Small towns dot the highway to keep me rooted to the present but the water- and landscapes imply ice sheets and upheavals and places without people. Hard to hold a conversation. More

The lake is an beautiful place, from hiking, fishing, camping or just sight-seeing...the views are incredible. Make sure you see it from both sides Hwy 93 and Hwy 35, it makes a great sight-seeing day drive! More

Could be one of the last pristine bodies of water in the lower 48 states. Perfect boating and fishing in the summer. Open, uncrowded waters! More

If you haven't made the drive south of Whitefish, you MUST come and see the splendor of Flathead Lake. If you have about 2 hours, take the drive all the way around the lake. It is wonderful! More

Beautiful area but if you want to really enjoy the lake a boat is recommended. You can drive around it approx 120 miles and visit lakeside towns, bars and resturants for a fun day.Tour boat excursions are available in Polson. More

I know I have lived here almost 40 years and I try to spend most waking moments on the lake in one of my three boats. Its 27 mi long and about 15 or so at the widest so you can get lost if you are not careful. It's the best sailing lake around and draws sailors from all over... More

What a gem within the big State of Montana!! As I traveled the area in July, I was just in time for the fresh cherry harvest. By far some of the best cherries I have ever eaten. Stop at a roadside market and buy them fresh off the tree!! The area also offers beautiful scenery and the lake just seems... More

Large lake, lots of small towns, and towering mountains. Reminds me of the French Alps. And the people are all friendly! More
