I love Russell's artwork and always enjoy a visit to this museum...your admission gets you into the museum, Russell's log cabin studio, and the Russell house. The studio looks as if Russell just stepped away for a moment. The museum has a fabulous collection of his artwork and letters, complete with the classic Russell decorated envelopes. There is even a... More

Spend time browsing in the museum at the impressive art collection, or wander through the buffalo exhibit in the basement. The House is interesting to see. The studio is amazing. Be prepared to be on your feet. There's also a really fun shop to buy cool momentos.

I visited during an Art Weekend, which was great because there were free seminars offered in the downstairs of the museum; I sat in on an artist painting an oil canvas with a live cowboy model; the artist shared his process and gave advice. There was a silent auction happening upstairs, some of the pieces being bid were amazing.. and... More

This museum is well worth the visit!! We were fortunate enough to have visited on a free admission weekend. The exhibits were fabulous and our teenage boys learned a lot!

If you are into western art, drawings, paintings, exhibits, statues and the such, you've owe it to yourself to go! Even though they were gearing up for their annual auction and half the museum was "off limits," it was still more than worth the time to go there. I'm only rating 4 out of 5 due to half the museum... Well laid out . . . particularly if you like Western Art. We visited to see the National Geographic Greatest Photographs of the West. Wonderful Museum Store as well!

It's been a while since I visited there, but I always enjoyed both the original studio which contained artifacts from Charlie Russell's day, such as guns, scalps, and snakeskins. The museum contains many of his paintings. If you've never seen his art, it is delightful in telling stories.

This is the reason we traveled to MT and it was well worth the drive. There was an exhibit of Russell's watercolors and they were the most remarkable art I have ever seen. My children ages 12, 10,&6 were totally spellbound for hours looking at the paintings. They were beyond words. The rest of the museum had a lot of... More
