Clear, sand-bottomed streams, wild areas ripe with orchids and awe-inspiring views combine to make Hawn a place that Missourians treasure. Geology buffs love Pickle Creek for the number of exposed rock types. Hikers frequent the Whispering Pine Wild Area for its quiet trails with expansive views. Bird watchers flock to the park for its variety of birds. And there are plenty of quiet spaces for people to get away and enjoy the outdoors. « less

This is an absolutely gorgeous spot to hike! The granite and sandstone outcroppings along the creek are especially interesting. Love hearing the breeze thru the pines also! More

The creek running through the park screams the Ozarks. There is a nice mix of igneous and sedimentary rock which makes it unique. I saw three pileated woodpeckers on a past visit. The Pickle Springs Natural Area adjacent to the park is equally beautiful. More

We actually live a few short miles from this state park. When our grandchildren come to visit we go to play there. Last year our 7 year old grandson talked his parents into camping there for his birthday. There is a large creek there called Pickle Springs that the children like to play in and the area is breathtaking. There... More

The park has several lengths of trails and camping for a day hike to an overnight. In "60 Hikes within 60 Miles of Saint Louis". Better choice is to stop at the nearby Pickle Creek Natural Area for a great 2-mile hike loaded with features and views. More

I've grown up hiking the trails and hills of Hawn State Park. Between tall, majestic pines and rocky outcroppings it's the perfect location for a Sunday afternoon picnic or hike. Plenty of shade and room to spread out also makes it ideal for larger get togethers or family reunions. There are even special places on the trail where one could... More

Hawn State Park has some wonderful hiking trails. The main 6-mile trail climbs to a hillcrest where you can see the beautiful surrounding countryside. The first part of the trail is along a creek and is very nice. There are some nice picnic areas as well. More
