After a leisurely afternoon we decided to buy tickets to the late afternoon performance. It well exceeded our expectations. The one man show was very enjoyable. The theater small and intimate. Interaction was consistent with the audience. Anyone who knows or has no idea who Mark Twain was should enjoy this presentation. A great day topped off by a wonderful live theater experience.

This one-man show with the content taken from the words of Mark Twain's writings is a must see. Richard Garey IS Mark Twain. While he recounted many of the quips used by the humorist, I felt perhaps there were funnier bits that were omitted. Having said that, we saw just one of about 6 hours of Mr. Garey's repertoire.

Our friends and I wanted to do something on a rainy evening. We bought tickets to Richard Harry’s Mark Twain Himself and were pleasantly surprised. Richard entertained and educated us.

The tickets at $20 each were a bargain

"Mark Twain Himself" is very appropriately named!

We happened to see billboards around town for this performer, and we were SO thankful we attended this presentation. Friends of ours saw the "other one" at the M.T. Cave and fell asleep as it was poorly done.

Get here early and you benefit in 2 ways... you can save $2.00 per ticket by purchasing early in the afternoon, and if you arrive back at 4:30pm you may personally speak with him prior to the show's start. Mind you, he will be "in character" then and will still entertain you with his responses as Mark Twain would have answered.

Richard does an amazing job of inhabiting Mark Twain's persona, and it was the best part of our 4 day trip to this interesting area.

An absolute must see while in Hannibal, MO!!

I have to say this was the best part of my trip to Hannibal. I didn't even know the one-man Mark Twain performance existed until I checked into my hotel and saw a flyer. I am glad I did. It harkened back to when he did lectures, telling stories. The actor who played Mr. Twain was phenomenal. $20 in advance/$22 at time of show. Parking is available and is well worth the money and time.

We came the evening of the 4th of July. We had a wonderful evening listening to the musings of “Mark Twain”. It is an interactive experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. Amusing, thoughtful and at times gut wrenching. We experienced a range of emotions during this performance. Our hats off to Richard Garey for his portrayal of Mark Twain!!

This was the first event we went to in Hannibal, and it set the tone for everything else. It was just fabulous. Mr. Twain's words spoken so many years ago are still applicable today. Confirmation that people really haven't changed that much. The presenation was humerous, poignant, and thoughtful. So professional, and throughly enjoyable. Highly recommend.

When we finished the Riverboat Dinner Cruise, there was Mark Twain waiting to invite us to the Planters Barn Theater. It was a last minute decision to go and I'm glad we did.
It's a small intimate setting, but Mark Twain is there to tell educate and entertain.
It was like sitting in a lecture with Mark Twain himself.
Being later at night, and after a great dinner on the dinner cruise - I would have liked the option of a cash bar.

My husband and I spent three days in Hannibal; and, The Mark Twain Himself show was our favorite activity during our stay!!

The time flew by filled with laughter and learning. The venue is small and intimate; and, you really feel like you are visiting Mr. Twain in his living room. We enjoyed reliving stories from books we had read as children and also so many things about Mark Twain's life that we had not known about previously.

We would recommended this wonderful show and venue to family and friends planning a trip to Hannibal.
