Toured the village and the house. The homes are not air conditioned, so if you have someone that can't stand the heat, go in the early spring or fall. Or, perhaps early morning before the sun hits the property. I'm not sure the hours it is open. The staff is very friendly. The Boone home has some of his and... More

We go to STL every year and always find interesting things to do. This is well worth the afternoon. We took the house tour and the village tour. It is worth it to spend a few extra bucks to to the village tour, you get to go into many of the houses/shops. More

Not only is the home open to visitors, a village has been recreated near the home. Learning about Daniel Boone and his time in Missouri is interesting and fun. Also, during the holidays, concerts and other activities are held to help people find the quieter meanings of life More

This shows how they lived in the 1800's and it is fascinating to see the house and the grounds. Hard to believe how hard a life it was back then. A great place to get history. More

I had a Coonskin hat when I was growing up. We all did at that age years ago. This was a fun excursion for me. For the younger generation that doesn't know Dan'l Boone the way my generation did, it might not be quite as exciting, but it was definitely as slice of history that I enjoyed. More

Follow signs carefully, road is rather daunting, but well worth the drive, local college runs the village, that I have not had time to explore yet. I have taken house tour twice over the years and still want to go back. More

The Daniel Boone Home -- more accurately, the home of his son Nathan, as is explained on the tour -- is worth the drive to Defiance, and outer suburb of Saint Louis. Over 200 years old, the house is surprisingly large and well-preserved. The tour guide was excellent, providing color as well as history. (Example: Where is Daniel buried? Here... More

What can I say. This house, to me, is as much of an American treasure as Mount Vernon or Abraham Lincoln's house in Springfield. Daniel Boone is the quintessential American frontiersman. His constant movement in the early years of this country in some ways symbolize the American experience and what makes us unique as a people. He died in this... More

Enjoyed our trip very much. They have numerous buildings on site that they have moved to make a "village". The grist mill was very interesting and the lady who gave the talk in the mill was very informative. In Daniel Boone's house there were actors portraying Daniel and his biographer and both were extremely interesting. The house was beautiful with... More
