There is nothing there. Has potential, but right now - don't waste your time. The street is looking better all the time, but that is all it is a street - no businesses or attractions.

I attend law school in this district. The area is full of drug addicts, prostitutes and muggers. I pack a pistol every day to school because the area is so horrible.

I'm from Jackson and if you are white in this area make sure you have a gun on you. It is a very dangerous part of town. Jackson has the 4th highest crime rate in the country. If you are looking for prostitutes though you'll find 100s here after the the sun goes down.

We drove down farish st and we could only imagine what it used to look like. I didn't feel safe stopping and getting out of the car for pictures or anything, because it was totally deserted. Farish st. Is only good for a drive through, on the way to another point of interest, I wouldn't recommend walking.

I'm not sure if maybe I went down the wrong side of the street or what, but this was a complete waste of time. I read reviews and thought it would be a nice area to spend an hour while in Jackson. When I turned down the road, I saw the historic Farish Street sign, but absolutely nothing else worth... More

Some of the area here is really nice and then there are parts where I don't want to get a stop sign or red light. It was kind of a tale of 2 cities. You could see there were clearly some parts struggling to recover from Katrina. We were happy to spend some money on lunch while in the area... More

While Farish Street has seen some bad times, it is undergoing a major facelift, just like was done on Beale Street (Memphis) and other cities around the country. A $20 million project is under construction right now (April, 2010) that will feature over a dozen new restaurant/clubs on the street, all of which will feature live music and upscale entertainment...
