There is nothing there. Has potential, but right now - don't waste your time. The street is looking better all the time, but that is all it is a street - no businesses or attractions.

I attend law school in this district. The area is full of drug addicts, prostitutes and muggers. I pack a pistol every day to school because the area is so horrible.
I'm from Jackson and if you are white in this area make sure you have a gun on you. It is a very dangerous part of town. Jackson has the 4th highest crime rate in the country. If you are looking for prostitutes though you'll find 100s here after the the sun goes down.
The history, commaraderie of races, food, music, fun, just relax and enjoy the good times.
I am waiting for it to be restored to exciting area it was when I was a child in the 60's-70's
Maybe in a couple years it will be nice but for now there is nothing there but old buildings, didn't look like anything had been restored

Farish st. Is only good for a drive through, on the way to another point of interest, I wouldn't recommend walking.
I'm not sure if maybe I went down the wrong side of the street or what, but this was a complete waste of time. I read reviews and thought it would be a nice area to spend an hour while in Jackson. When I turned down the road, I saw the historic Farish Street sign, but absolutely nothing else worth...

While Farish Street has seen some bad times, it is undergoing a major facelift, just like was done on Beale Street (Memphis) and other cities around the country. A $20 million project is under construction right now (April, 2010) that will feature over a dozen new restaurant/clubs on the street, all of which will feature live music and upscale entertainment...
