This is a wonderful zoo in the city of St. Paul. A donation is welcomed as an entry fee. We live in the area and go frequently.
A large city park in the middle of St. Paul with a free zoo, a beautiful conservatory full of tropical plants, a Japanese garden, an historic carousel with wooden hand-carved carousel horses, a nice municipal swimming and diving pool in the summers, picnic areas, fire pits, bicycle trails, athletic fields, a golf course, a small lake with a lakeside pavilion,... No matter the time of year, this is a wonderful place for families of all ages! Whether its warm and sunny or cold and wintry, you'll enjoy your visit.
First off I have to say that the conservatory has been a wonderful attraction for many years...I remember going many times years ago with my dad to take countless Wedding pictures. A paradise of botanical gardens, sunken pools and secret areas inside a beautiful glass dome. Tons of sun and warmth, great for winter visits (but of course, it is also gorgeous in the summer).

I have visited a number of conservatories and consider this one of the finest. Its setting in the urban oasis of Como Park only adds to its appeal. If you enjoy a touch of nature inside a city, this... More
It is an excellent zoo for the variety and walkability. It is always a MUST see when my nieces come to town from Arizona. The new gorilla exhibit, the polar bears and the water park feature of Como Town are all wonderful additions.
