I don't know of any other city that has this interesting second story feature except for St. Paul. You can get lost but there are plenty of maps. Makes the winter a lot more bearable. You can get your exercise without going outside and don't even have to drive downtown. Just take an express bus or the light rail. Also,... More

The skyway system allows you to move around in the winter and rain without going outside. Look for maps and signs to navigate. More

I've attended a number of conferences at the Minneapolis convention center at cold times of the year and rarely have had to put my coat on most days, because almost everything I need can be reached from the Skyway without going outside (including, of course, my hotel and the convention center). There are some interesting views of the city available... More

Downtown Minneapolis used to be a great place to shop, but now it's mostly fast food places for the workers lunches. There are a few nightspots on Hennepin Ave too. More

Easy and free and supper energy efficient as its a people powered transportation net integrated with the down town. People powered because you walk, with many shops etc in areas between individual buildings. Nice to go several blocks away when its -20f outside and not need a coat. More

The Skyway keeps you from freezing in January. I don't know if it is really a destination though. Sometimes it can be confusing but many stores have some maps of the skyway. More

it won't matter to you. The minneapolis skyway can take you from one end of downtown to the other without having to go outside in the freezing cold, if thats what you want it to do. Nothing like it anywhere else in the US More
