We had bats at our camp. The new headwaters is really a nice addition. The tower is pretty cool, but don't go on a windy day.

Best time to visit is in the fall when the leaves are changing. There isn't a better place to see fall colors anywhere. Go for a bike ride around the lake on the paved trail.

Travelled with a group of Friendship Force friends on a Global Exchange following the Great Mississippi River from Lake Itasca to St Louis.
The scenery was amazing and I was surprised that all was closing down for the winter. I felt that this was far too soon as it was very comfortable weather.

Visited during Labor Day weekend and had a great time. In case not everyone know- Lake Itasca is the "birthplace" of the Mississippi River.
