I try to make a trip to the monument every year. It is the most beautiful place to visit. I love going down the by-way and seeing all the sites. It has got to be my fav in all of Michigan More

This is a favorite destination for sunday drives or if we are visiting near Tawas City. It's a park commemorating the CCC. There's girlls and picnic tables, bathrooms, museum and a river walk (300 steps down!). Along the Au Sable River, it's beautiful. More

This spot near the Au Sable River is a tribute to the bygone age of the lumberman. Michigan was one of the primary states that was called upon to provide the timber and lumber for rebuilding Chicago after its fire, as well as Michigan's own trade in crates, firniture, vaneer and so forth. The part contains various tools, photos, and... More

Lumberman's Monument is a great place to visit if you are in the Tawas Area. There are many informational booths about Lumberman and there is AMAZING scenery, so bring your camera, and some extra film! If you have kids with you, go on the trail(about a half mile walk) and there will be a deck overlooking the Au Sable River,... More

We have always enjoyed a quiet respite at Lumberman's Monument Park, located about 15 miles from Oscoda, MI. The River Road Scenic Byway takes you thru the Huron National Forest on the way to the park. The park has some simple exhibits, a statue, a great hiking trail system, good overlooks. fantastic views of the Au Sable River, and a... More
