The trip through the locks was very informative. The last time i did this was around 27 years ago. This time was a lot better.
To those who love to watch giant ships come to town and go up or down in the water, this is the place. There is a visitor's center that tells what ships are expected in and when, so you can plan your time around the arrivals.
You go through two locks watch them fill and drain, totally worth it to see such a. Engineering marvel.. If your there you gotta ride the boat it helps supports the locals and full of good information.. Its slow going and more informative than anything but i loved it good times.
This is on the Michigan side. There is a park that follows along side the actual locks so you can see the large freighters moving thru. These are true great lakes locks with a the first super lakes lock just starting where 2 of the 4 oldest locks are now. Worthwhile checking out if in the area.
Excellent view of the freighters The first day we were only able to watch 2 but the second day we got lucky and saw 6 freighter pass by. Is a nice place just to sit and relax with a great view
