This is the same as the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. This was the first lighthouse on Lake Superior to guide ships into Whitefish Bay and into the Soo Locks. It was important during the Civil War for guiding ships that were bringing iron from the iron ranges on the western end of Lake Superior to the steel mills in Chicago... More

Visited the Whitefish Point lighthouse with my family of four...self-guided tours and beautiful beach. The kids enjoyed the fact that it wasn't a "long" museum tour as there is not much "interaction" for younger kids but still interesting to them. More

Whitefish Point was worth the stop. It was a very windy night and the beach and waves were great. The lighthouse is okay. More

When my wife told me the cost of this overnight stay, I about croaked! Then she told me that the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum tickets were included in the cost. That made it a little better. Then, when we checked in, the lady informed us that a percentage of our rate is a tax deductible donation, that made the price... More

Admission is like $13 for adults. I figured the museum couldn't be that good so we skipped it. The grounds were pretty, but not worth the drive. The gift shop goes a little overboard with the Fitzgerald stuff (there's a fine line between reverence and creepiness). More

I took my family up to the lighthouse in August of 2010. The shipwreck museum is really cool, and the boathouse and lighthouse living quarters are neat as well. It is a little bit pricey - I don't remember the cost but it was a tad high, though not outright gouging. The beach is beautiful and the area is still... More
