This lighthouse is very easy to get to, a paved road goes all the way there. Unfortunately, that also means it is sometimes very crowded. Still, it's worth the trip. Other than the lighthouse itself, you can tour a keeper's house, visit the museum and shop in the large gift shop. You can also spend the night in their bed... More

This Lighthouse is on the Point serving Whitefish Bay (remember from the Edmond Fitzgerald song of 1976). It's a quiet area, with a great historical museum and activities (mostly for kids). It was a great afternoon, stiff wind blowing and always temperately cool, so bring a jacket if you're going to walk around the grounds much.

Whitefish Point Lighthouse is one of the must see locations in the Upper Peninsula. Amazing view of Lake Superior, very nice beach and well maintained grounds. Learned quite a bit about the past from the amazing staff. Spend the extra $4 per person to go up in the lighthouse tower, sure it costs a couple bucks but it all goes... More

One of many historical Lighthouses in the State of Michigan, Whitefish Point is one not to miss. Imagine the high seas and the gales in November, the Edmund Fitz on there final voyage and you cannot help becoming awestruck at the power and wonder of the Great Lake Gitcheegumee.

It's not open in the winter, but you can still view the lighthouse and get down to the beach, which in itself is worth seeing! The waves freeze and form icy terraces that you can (carefully) explore, chunks of crystal clear ice are scattered over the beach, and the froze whorls on the surface of the water are beautiful. It's... More

Great place to learn about the old days of Great Lakes shipping, and the problems they had in surviving them.

If you have ever wanted to see a unique lighthouse, this is your chance, Located on the shores of Lake Superior, you will learn a lot of history about the shipwrecks of this massive lake. The building and grounds are immaculate and the staff is very friendly.

We visited the lighthouse on the morning of a raging storm blowing off Lake Superior. It was AWESOME!
