There is a small and secluded campground right on the shore of Lake Michigan, just one mile south of Ludington.
This campground gets no statewide publicity, but is always full in the summer due to returning campers.
There is great hiking along the bluff that overlooks Lake Michigan and swimming at the Buttersville Park beach is great.

This park is close to our home and is a little,seemingly private, park on Lake Michigan. Very seldom have I seen many tourists-or crowds for that matter.

We read that this park has picnic tables, restrooms, and playground equipment. We didn't find any of those. All we found was a dirt parking lot for only a small number of cars, a dune to climb down to the beach, a very nice sandy beach, and awesome views in both directions. We may have seen one chemical toilet near...
