I have lived near both Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. No comparison. Pictured Rocks offers so much more diversity, camping, opportunities for memorable experience than Sleeping Bear Dunes. Both are a must see, but ensure you explore all that Pictured Rocks has to offer both from the land side of it and the water side... More

Short hike to the log slide area. Did not go down it. I still remember going to the bottom and back up when I was a kid and it was a blast but think it would be much rougher getting back up the sandy hill at my current age. Great views of lake superior from the top. More

Short walk from the parking lot, which makes this stop accessible for just aout anyone. The view from the scenic platform is a must see. More

Believe the signs that warn the "infirm, pregnant, or those of ill health" not to try to scale the dune. Sure, looks fun running down the huge hill. Hiking up will kill you - even in good shape. Walking back, the trail has some sand-flies, but that is nothing new to UP'ers. THe vista and photos are worth the stop... More

This is a must see site, very easy to get to. Some sand along the trail near the top. If you go to the Au Sable Light House, look towards the sand dunes and see the area of the Log Slide. Amazing. More

The below review describes this place very well, so I won't bother repeating the same information. It is simply the best stop, for us anyway, in the whole park. That slide is actually about 450 feet down I think. Maybe somewhat less. But whatever the true height, beware of a very long and tough climb back up (no, we did... More

When told by our B&B owners to go by here our thought was not a big deal. We were working our way up to Grand Marais and had time just just turned in. There were 10 young teenagers running up the trail with the parents hollering "WAIT UNTIL WE GET THERE!!!!" several times. They were so excited and we knew... More
