We've hiked this trail in the summer and the winter. It's definitely a tougher climb from the parking lot during the winter! However the views are so worth the effort. The trail starts off gradually but starts to toughen up about a quarter mile in. There are railroad tie re-enforced steps in certain places but for the most part it... More

A title that barely scratches the surface! If one really wants to appreciate the area one needs to hike the various trails in the National Lakeshore where vistas are unsurpassed.

Good hiking distance but not overwhelming. Had a little trouble staying on the trail. May need to improve or increase the signs.

An enormous quantity of Pyramid Point dropped into the lake suddenly about 20 years ago, I believe. So, when the kids are charging up the final 100' try to slow them down as it drops right off! A nice hike up, we usually picnic to the side of the parking lot in the tall grass and then hike up. It's... More

This is the hike we choose with our first time guests. It's not too strenuous and offers a beautiful view as its reward.

This is an easy walk, not far but has some elevation to it. The walk up is made easier with horizontal boards set in the sand along the trail to walk on. the trail ends overlooking the water.

Lots better hikes in Sleeping Bear - and many have a good view - if you're here for awhile and you want to say you did all the trails by all means go for it but if you just have a short while I'd do a different one.

It is an uphill climb so be prepared but do not let it scare you away! It is thee most beautiful payoff at the end. Views of the bays and islands. Bring your camera and allow time to savor the views.

This was a nice hike with lots of uphill climbing. Nice view when you get to the overlook. We backtracked and hiked the meadow loop, which was very sunny and very narrow. After the meadow loop is a long, steep climb through the woods...emphasize long and steep. We found ourselves stopping a few times to catch our breath, but we... More

Short hike (1 mile), pretty good view of South and North Manitou Islands over the lake. Also recommend Alligator Hill.
