There are few peaceful rooms in a busy city...and these are some of the best! Plush rooms of oxygen that I have enjoyed for decades...such a gift. Keep to the right and take time to stand still allowing your site to track toward the sky of each atrium. As you circle each room...let your stress go with big breaths outward.... More

Wide variety of plants in large glass observatories on Belle Isle in the Detroit River. Hidden treasure in an urban setting.

It, like all of Detroit, is a shadow of what it once was. Still, it has beautiful flora and fauna. It's a great escape on a winter's day. There's enough left on Belle Isle to image it in full bloom just a generation ago.

Visit at least once a year - love the history of the place. It is quite small, so don't expect a large conservatory, but remember it is 100 years old.

We took the kids to Belle Isle and visited the conservatory. The area outside in front of the conservatory doesn't really exist anymore. The grass is tall and weeds are everywhere. However, we did see signs that they are working on it. There were lots of tulips and some annuals that looked newly planted. Also, the steps, walkway, and fountain... More

My friend and I are garden and plant people. After having read reviews and seen photos of this place online we had our hearts set on going. What we found was a decaying husk of what was once beautiful. First and foremost, I have uploaded a variety of photos to support the claims and statements made about my visit to... More

Stumbled on the conservatory on a car trip around the city. Belle Isle is a GREAT stop on a tour with out of town guests, and the conservatory is a neat place to stop. Open until 5 on a saturday, its like a trip to the tropics!
