You can tell that Detroit was once a great city but there are so many empty/boarded up buildings. Everyone os so friendly and helpful but it is a bit of a wasteland.

Went to DT Detroit to see a couple specific sites, the Mariners Church, Spirit of Detroit and Joe Louis Memorial. All of these are withing a block or so of each other and was all pretty interesting.
The Mariner's Church has some absolutely outstanding stained glass that I want to go back and get pictures of. They had a service...

just down town is nice to drive thru, just watch you dont go off the path cause then you run into trouble and dumpie places and it gets scary

Detroit is a beautiful city and deserves to be visited. With some redevelopment this city can come back and stand tall beside Chicago and other famous cities on a river. Visit, help with the rebound to greatness.

lots of good restaurants and activities. but not very safe as you might know when the economy is not good, lots of drugs and theft.

if you get a chamce and want some excitement, head up to detroit and go to motor city casino. alot of comps, decent eaterys and money to win.
