I love this place. Every time I visit the Colonial House Inn, located next door, I visit the Edward Gorey House and Museum. I remember when Edward was alive and would dine at the CHI, for dinner.

Gorey was sui generis, and was very involved in Cape Cod theater (as well as New York theater). His house is as quirky as his books, and a lot of his unique personality remains.
The AARP says that Cape Cod is one of the quirkiest places in America..... Maybe that's true. In any event, the Gorey House is among "the quirkiest of the quirky." It's even a bit on the creepy side, although it's creepy in a nice sort of way that many people will be able to appreciate. It's helpful to know something...

Being a big Gorey fan, I was delighted to see that his house in Yarmouth was open on Saturdays during the off season. The house is filled with Gorey's fantastic, dark, funny art, as well as his collections of strange and everyday objects. We must say thanks to our lovely tour guide, Barbara, who made our visit really enjoyable. Having...

We received wonderful insight into this amazing artist and his work. Good selections in the gift store and I was able to do some advance holiday shopping. The Gorey House made a great stop on our way up...

If you know the quirky art and writings of Edward Gorey, this place is a treasure house, actually Gorey's last house, and filled with his unique intelligence. If you don't know him, go and find out: you'll be a fan.
We visited on an open house day. It was a fun and quirky place to visit. We were given a mini tour. Great for fans of Mystery on PBS. We all walked away with souvenirs.
We enjoyed our visit to the Gory House, I grew up reading his odd little tales and was happy to see where he lived. Our guide was pleasant and involved and showed us his illustrated envelopes and various books and artifacts, she explained a bit about his earlier life, education and working career as an illustrator. We also bought a...
