A visit/tour through the grist mill doesn't take all that long, so I would suggest either planning on eating at the Wayside Inn or taking a picnic to soak up the scenery. This is a beautiful spot to learn about Colonial American life and see how flour, the staple of most early economies, was milled. (You can purchase the wheat flour or corn meal that is milled there--both are fresh and excellent!) The manager of the mill is a font of information about historical topics related to the Colonial days and beyond.... More

The Old Grist Mill is just so scenic. Set in a beautiful bit of land, with lush grass, a mill pond and stream, paths to stroll, stone walls; it is a lovely place to have a picnic. There is plenty of parking, and good shade, too. Kids will enjoy a visit to the mill if it is open. This place... More

What a great historic spot. The miller explained the whole process to us, and we were only four!!! What a great guy. The place is beautifully maintained. But they need to keep it open more. It is not quite as nice when not running. More
