You get to the Wood End Lighthouse by crossing the breakwater. I wasn't crazy about walking on the break water. It was very windy and the uneven rocks made me uncomfortable (didn't bother my middle aged husband!). “Walk over the jetty at Low Tide”

The jetty is safest at low tide. Our guest house had the tide charts available. It is about 1 mile across the jetty and there are trails mostly on packed sand for another .5 miles to the lighthouse.
