As you step into Arrowhead you are stepping into the past. You can see the chimney that Melville warmed himself by walk into the rooms that held he and his extended family. you walk upstairs and see the room that he penned one of America's premiere novels. Arrowhead is really a tiny museum that houses the Berkshire Historical Society. Kind of far out of the city and not to much signage from in town on route to get there. We visited Arrowhead over Memorial Day weekend in 2007. We really enjoyed the tour ($15/adults) although you are not allowed to take pictures inside the house. I never read Moby Dick but still found the tour to be very interesting. I would recommend it to anyone into literature or history. We would have loved to venture to the top of... More
