Rocky Neck Art Colony : a gallery located in a wonderful city : Gloucester, Massachusetts. Gloucester is located in Cape Ann. A little area you can drive around quietly to appreciate all his sites by the sea. Many other galleries : Paul Strisik and David Tuttwiller I also like Rockport and Rocky Neck with all the boutiques. Not too far... More

Rocky Neck is the oldest art colony in the country. I loved walking around the community, meeting and talking to artists, visiting galleries, and eating in restaurants. The view of the harbor and all the boats is inspiring, even if you aren't an artist!

The town has a lot to choose from and one could spend several days touring galleries. Many aesthetics - photography, painting, sculpture, etc.

The newly opened art gallery house, housed in a former church beautiful light falls through the stain glass window,is a year round treat. Friendly and informative artists staff the building who are very helpful with the work that adorns the walls. Exhibits change regularly,so do make it a frequent stop when you find yourself at Rocky Neck Art Colony.

I went during the summer, and even though I'm a local, I was very impressed by the array of art galleries and small restaurants that are located throughout the Rocky Neck Art Colony. I was also impressed at the amount of tourists! Definitely a popular area. My friend and I parked at the beginning, in a free lot. We were... More

One of the oldest art colonies in the U.S. The art is traditional marine with some significant variations. Less expensive and more varied than you'll find in Rockport. The setting is surrounded on three sides by boats and a bit on the funky side. The Rudder Restaurant is wonderful for dinner.

We went on our way back from Eastern Point Lighthouse on a monday and everything was closed. It seems like it could be nice on a weekend though.

Nice galleries, small restaurants and cafés. A great alternative to the beach on a cloudy day. Nice views of the sea and of Gloucester. An old trolley bus takes you there for a couple of dollars during the weekend.

this is quite a distance from Gloucester township and we attempted to walk in very hot conditions; luckily a very friendly local gave us a lift when we were halfway there. Many of the galleries and eating estabs were closed. we enjoyed the walk around and we ventured to the residential area on the shoreline, the boatyard, had lunch at... More

Would make sure you get some beach time in but Rocky neck is an ok walk around. We went off season so maybe it's better when the season is in full swing.
