This is a lovely museum. Compact but comprehensive. Especially good is the guided tour around the old part of the house that gives a good idea of what it was like living there. The small exhibition of exquisitely carved wooden birds & ducks was beautiful. Well worth a visit. More

We found the Atwood House Museum to be a well done small museum rich in the local Chatham Sea Captain history. It is truly a jewel and well worth the visit. Great for kids too! More

Check out the new exhibit at the Old Atwood House museum in Chatham -- really interactive with little vignettes that let you belay a line, trade for Ginseng root, tea, etc. and role play at a replica of India Wharf in Boston to trade it back. The scale bow of the "Wild Rover" is awesome. More

I recently visited the Atwood and found it to be a great way to spend a few hours on a rainy day. Their collection of seashells and period artifacts was interesting as were the portraits of sea captains. The staff was helpful in identifying Chatham residents in a large mural. It was nice to see the people who have given... More

Set in the lovely village of Chatham, this great museum is filled with maritime history with a gallery of paintings, exhibits on the fishing industry, local paintings, displays that change each season, activities and seminars for all ages, knowledgable staff offering tours of the collections, a portion of Chatham's historical Twin Light, an orginal North Beach camp and much more.... An excellent house museum with far better than usual special exhibits. The Summer 2007 exhibit on World War I and the local air station is excellent, going far beyond matters of local interest. Staff very helpful. More
