I highly recommend a couple hours on the Rebecca T, Ruark (built in 1886), a beautiful, 52 foot (on deck) skipjack. Captain Wade is a proud, 5th generation waterman and takes you out into the bay from Tilghman Island. He shares lots of stories of the Chesapeake, oysters, ospreys, eagles and sailing. You can help with the sails, steer the... More

It was an excellent experience! The captain teaches you everything about the boat, history of fishing, crabbing and protecting the environment. He also lets passengers steer the boat! More

We went over July 4th weekend for the 6-8 sail. there were probably about 20 other people on board. If you go earlier in the day be aware that there is no shade, so take sunscreen. The skipper loves to share information about the bay. We could bring food and drink with us. We were amused that the skipper, in... More

Capt Murphy is an old salt who will give you first hand experience about the historic Skipjacks and Oystering & Crabbing on the Bay. Don't go if you want a romantic cruise, but take all your friends if you want a fun and educational ride on a piece of Americana with a genuine Chessie Captain. He's hands on and will... More

The Captain is a colorful waterman with a loud voice and a character only fitting of a real sailor. The tour is a delight; the Captain makes it interesting; and the price worth the experience. I chartered the ship for a group of 23 very high-level foreign dignitaries…. After two days at the quaint Inn at Perry Cabin, we took... More

This Skipjack built in 1886 has been in the family for five generations. You will see great sights and learn about the history of the area all at a very reasonable price. He also has another small boat that will take groups up to 6 out for crabbing. More

We were in Saint Michaels, MD for the first time and thought it would be nice to get out on the water. We saw a brochure about a 2 hour tour on the Skipjack - Rebecca T. Ruark - built in 1886 or so. We called the number and confirmed that there would be a sailing at 6 PM and... More

My husband and I very much enjoyed our experience on the Rebecca Ruark. Our trip was longer than two hours, but unlike the reviewer who wrote such negative comments, we enjoyed the stories of Captain Wade and were able to appreciate the Captain and his accomplishments. The Rebecca Ruark is a part of history, and Captain Wade is the reason that... More

We took a 2 hour afternoon tour last weekend while on Tilghman Island. We had a great day weather wise and the sailing was fine - nothing strenuous or unnerving. The Captain was personalbe and a talker - but he didn't pester anyone not interested in hearing the history or nature of the boat. All in all we both felt... More
