Let me start by saying that I have visited many parks with spectacular falls. But All four falls at Swallow Falls State Park are relaxing and intriguing. The trail is very accessible and suitable for all ages. The park store and staff are wonderful. If you visit avoid rocks that are wet near the falls. They have signs that inform... More

I've been here dozens of times and never tire of the beauty. Being a local I come here many times per year. And there are reasons to come different times of the year. Spring the falls are running full, summer and fall they can be low, and in the winter the river sometimes freezes over. Just an amazing place to... More

The water falls (there are three, Muddy River falls is the tallest in Maryland) are great, and the trails are easy. Parking is $3, so bring cash!

Took the dogs to the park. Amazing falls and a really nice time. Very easy accessibility to everything! Everything is handicap accessible. As we were getting ready to leave, someone fell into falls and went over. In minutes, 11 different agencies showed up. They were all very friendly and said hi to the dogs. The Deer Park guy showed off... More

I have been to this park several times in the past few years. The falls are spectacular, and it is easy walking. In the winter you need to be careful of the snow and ice. Spring and summer are a lot easier to navigate the trails. In general, the trails are easy hiking. Some of the steps can be a... More

This is my favorite Maryland State Park. I have visited in all seasons and they all offer beautiful and unique scenery. Sandy brought vast devastation to this peaceful retreat and the old hemlocks took quite a hit. However, many made it through and seem to be smiling down on the falls. This park has it all for every nature lover!... More

Gorgeous views, peaceful, and easy hike. Poor timing however because many trails were closed due to weather conditions (snow and recent hurricane)

Swallow falls is a wonderful campground and hiking area. My only reservation with this park is they do not allow pets (even leashed dogs) in the hiking areas, or falls areas. This becomes limiting when you are not allowed to leave your pets at your campsite unattended either. They are very strict about the policy. Other than the pet policy... More
