The park charges $4 Calvert residents and $6 non resident fee. Being from Hughesville, I am not a resident but close enough to enjoy the park frequently, so I opted for the yearly pass which was $20. They have a building for education about the park and a shark tooth display. They have nice bathroom facilities at the parking lot... More

This is a fun place to take the family. The walk to get to the beach is very pretty and the beach was a lot of fun. The kids loved looking for shark's teeth.

It's at least a 1/2 mile walk to the beach (and a big hill on the way back), but the beach itself is quiet, clean, family oriented, and you can relax alone with a book and not be bothered. Or take a nice long walk and hunt for shells and other little things the bay washes up. The water is... More

I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place---a real hidden gem for beach lovers and beach combers. I took the grandchildren who enjoyed the shallow swimming areas and we sifted through the shells to find several pieces of coral and small sharks teeth. It was a weekend, so it was a bit busy, but returning on a weekday I... More

Spent around 4 hours at this park today, great beach for kids, mild water and small waves. There was a short walk from the parking area to the beach and we found 10 sharks teeth while looking around in the sand. Kids had a great time. We are going back next weekend and for a $6 entry fee you can... More

After living in Calvert County for several years I finally discovered the beautiful public beach so close to home at Flag Ponds. I am an absolute beach lover and will be visiting Flag Ponds on a regular basis to get my beach fix! This past weekend we took our daughter, grandson and dog and spent a wonderful day on the... More

Great nature center, walking trails, picnic areas, beach access (including handicapped parking), fishing--Flag Ponds has it all. Man's best friend is welcome as long as he (or she) is on a leash. A perfect spot for a family picnic. Google them for info on their family and children's educational programs. There is a small admission fee, but it's worth it!

Agree with all the other reviewers. Amenities easily available, paid $6 for our car, much shorter walk to beach than Calvert Cliffs, not crowded, bring your blanket. We waded in and found sharks teeth right on the shore. The walk and shore sustained some damage in the recent storm but they are working to repair and remove downed trees. My... More

This should be on the Best Secrets in Washingtonian Magazine. Anyone who wants a uncrowded summer beach 1 hour from DC should consider this opportunity. There are not too many local beaches where the eagles and ospreys fly overhead, sharks teeth are mixed with shells, the water is calm, the beach is clean and you can have your own stretch... More

Found fossilized sharks teeth, bones and cool beach glass. Not crowded at all and the park is operated by very friendly people. Bathrooms, shaded parking, and picnic tables. We paid $5 for a car of six people. Great trip and kids(7 & 9) loved it! Will go again before summer ends.
