We spent a delightful morning hour in "The Book Center" in historic Cumberland, MD before walking to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad on its opening day. Not only a place to browse the area's largest local & regional history selection, the children's book/toy section, the used books area, postcards/souvenirs & more are all wonderful. Convenient hours (8AM - 6PM M-F... More

The purpose of this review is to discourage potential customers' decisions because of the 1 star rating: I have received nothing but rave reviews about this trip. It is apparent that this mother should have left such a young child at home. The staff's job description includes neither babysitting nor primary care. The mother should have put her child in... Steam engine, roaring black smoke, rocking and rolling of the car, clickty clack of the tracks, beautiful scenery. We are local and we try to do the train at least once a year.

My husband and I participated in the Mystery Dinner - it was lots of fun. Acting and show was wonderfully campy and the other passengers were very lively and friendly. Food was ok but service was absolutely flawless. It was a fun way to spend a late summer evening!

This was a very scenic very informative short ride. I would do it again. The track winds uphill from Cumberland to Frostburg. We were able to load our bikes and further pedal when we arrived in Frostburg. Made for a great day.

We did the Santa Express ride with the kids. We enjoyed it. Next time we will do the day trip because at night you obviously can't see the scenery. Would consider doing the fall trip.

I recently experienced the North Pole Express for the first time! The train ride was fun and the kids had a wonderful time, but the "North Pole" was a little less to be desired! Santa was not very pleasant and we were crammed into the building like sardines! It was nice, but definitely would NOT do it again!

My husband and I we as excited as the 8 year old's sitting in the adjacent seats. This was a treat for steam engine lovers like us and the views were amazing. We are planning our fall trip here already!

What a great, different activity to do with friends or make new friends! Our first time on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and what a nice experience. We rode the evening of the Clue themed Murder Mystery Train. The train is themed wonderfully with tables of 4 lining either side of the cars. Salad is waiting for you when you... More

Great grandfather and grandfather worked at this station on the west edge of downtown Cumberland. Great museum at the beautiful station. A true symbol of a great railroad town.
