The statue is in Rockport Harbor which is one of the prettiest little harbors in Maine. It is a very relaxing place to go. Even though repaired from a previous attack, the statue is still very cute and reminds one of the story of Andre the seal.

Andre's statue is a great spot to visit with young kids. They will love petting the granite seal and hearing the story about how Andre lived in Rockport Harbor and performed tricks. I would recommend reading the Andre the Seal book before visiting Rockport and the statue since that will make it even more special.

André was a harbor seal who spent his winters at the New England Aquarium in Boston and his summers in Rockport Harbor. Every spring for over 20 years the Seaquarium would release him and André would swim north to Rockport (150+ miles). It was always a high point for local residents when he reappeared. He was the honorary harbormaster.
