returned to sugarloaf after five years. excellant condition. still very difficult. managed to finish just under four hours
I have had the great pleasure of playing the course at the end of september. Unforgettable Greens, fairways, every thing was perfect. The personnel is very dedicated to give you a good day at golf. What a festival of colors..
From your arrival and check in, you'll be treated like royalty. The course is spectacular, with extraordinary framed mountain views from Tee boxes and greens. Do take a pause on each hole to enjoy the layout. Although a very challenging course, the greens are the crux of the game here. Enjoy, and you'll be back again and again.
Sugarloaf has the reputation for being a difficult golf course, and that reputation is well-earned. Don't expect to play your usual game here. Just come with the idea of enjoying the absolutely gorgeous setting surrounding you, the clear air, and the camaraderie with other golfers. I play the senior tees, and she plays the forward tees. Several of the par... More
Sugarloaf used to be "the" course to play due to the mountain setting, the double dog legged holes, shots over the river to the par three, and just an overall good challenge.. Number 11 par 3 was always a joy. That was before Belgrade Golf Club was built. Now you have to ask the question is is worth the extra... More
Bring lots of ammo. this golf course is choice, and the best in Maine. The views form each fairway and green are alone worth the trip, which is enjoyable in it's self. Wonderful start & finish clubhouse, and a memorable day of play. Do it. You'll be very glad you did.

Every year, a group of guys (6-10 of us) come up to enjoy a fall golf weekend getaway. This year our trip... More
We liked the idea of a Canadian Golf Week in the US. There was only two of us with one Pro so had much pampering and felt like we got our monies worth. The Pro was very good, he related to us as he was similar in age to us. The course is absolutely beautiful, in the mountains of Maine,... More
The course layout and views are fantastic. The Pro shop staff were were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the condition of the course is not very good. The greens are a mess with a lot of damage which makes for difficult bumpy putting. The fairways have less signifcant damage but many areas have have dead or bare areas. The course experienced... What a beautiful course, hugging the mountains. Challenging but not insane. There are many moments when you will find yourself catching your breath at the magnificent views of the hills. Pro shop was very accommodating and moved up our foursome when we all arrived earlier than expected.
