My family and I had this Plantation on our list of things to do and we had a really great experience. The look of it was what you would expect to see and the Live Oaks draped in Spanish moss were breathtaking to look at as you walked down the "Alley of Trees" to the slave cabins. The house is... The plantation house is not large - it actually was first built in the Creole style and then changed into Greek Revival but the main reason for visiting is to see the completely original and intact slave cabins. No other plantation has as many original outbuildings and slave quarters and it really helps give you a feel for what plantation... More

I toured Evergreen Plantation while visiting my daughter in New Orleans. Of the three plantations we saw, Evergreen was my favorite. The rows of ancient Live Oaks dripping with spanish moss were breathtaking and the main house, while on the small side, was beautifully restored and appointed. The small citrus grove was gorgeous, and we even had a visit with... More

After reading these reviews we were on the fence about taking the tour. I'm glad we decided to stop by. The tour takes you to the main house and then down a long oak alley to the slave cabins. I found the tour guide to be well educated on the subject of Louisiana history as well as the history of... More

This may be the only plantation that still has intact slave quarters. They have done an excellent job of preserving those buildings as well as the main plantation buildings. I could tell that our tour guide really cared about the property and the grounds. That was really nice. It made the experience even better. Most impressive are the two oak... More

Interresting house, but the whole tour consisted of being told where to walk, what not to ask about, and when to leave. The tour guide made it very clear that questions were not encouraged, and we felt very much like we were being lectured to rather than informed. I'm glad we saw the house, but I felt that we were... There are probably other plantations in the area more worth a visit. Clearly this is one of the most beautiful plantations in this area. And the intact lane of slave quarters is very interesting (although you only see one and don't really see it well). But $20 dollars for this 30 minute tour is a joke. The guide who showed... More

Evergreen Plantation has beautiful grounds and has the slave quarters still intact. I believe there were over ten. If you visit the house and want to see the slave quaters it is a long walk. I would not reccomend doing this if you have trouble walking. The house was okay but there are more plantations in the area that give... More

Overall I would definitely recommend seeing this plantation because of the beautiful trees and the fact that so many of the slave quarters are still intact. The inside isn't too much to see but it's worth the trip. There is much less room inside then you would think from the outside. More
