While visiting family in Baton Rouge, a cousin suggested a visit to the Shaw Center. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at this LSU museum. The exhibit was small but interesting and was featuring an artist who is currently serving on the faculty at the University. His modern art was in real contrast to the rest of the exhibits... More

This is the perfect place to visit for small concerts. There are no bad seats and the sound quality is perfect. Little over 350 seats and no one will feel left out.

Excellent architecture makes this Arts Center a joy to visit regardless of exhibition, which are sometimes fabulous. Terrific views of Mighty Mississippi and Downtown Baton Rouge. Observation decks from both L.S.U. Museum of Art (4th floor) and Tsunami restaurant(top floor).

I have a love-hate relationship with the Shaw Center for the Arts. I love the LSU Museum of Art (small but interesting collections), but wonder if a university art museum should be on the campus rather than downtown. I like the LSU Art Gallery but find its location within the complex rather second rate vis-a-vis the grandiose entry hall. I... More

About a year since last here and was delighted to catch a well-done retrospective on the late Michael Crespo (there till Dec. 14, 2012), along with the permanent collection. The center is close to several other interesting attractions - e.g. the old state capitol building that is more like a castle than any other capital that have ever seen, the... More

Great location in the heart of BR. Always displays fab art in a sophisticated setting. You feel like you're in NY instead of BR! Theater has acoustics to rival the best - maybe better! Fountains outside, art inside, roof top sushi restaurant. Just FEELS good.

One stop for viewing art, going to shows and other special entertainment events, and a spectacular view of the Mississippi River on the roof-top terrace next to Tsunami Restaurant. Make it to the roof-top terrace to watch sundown and enjoy your favorite beverage.

We didn't know Tsunami's on top of the Shaw Center closed on Sundays.. so we just walked around and enjoyed the live jazz music a block away, watched the kids and pets play in the timed water sprays, and walked down to the river about 1 block away. The area businesses close on Sundays but the Shaw movie theater, gift... More

This place is a class act! Whether you go to see a movie, music, play or any entertainment booked at the Manship Theater, it will be a really good experience. This is the best venue in Baton Rouge. The variety of entertainment that is offered here has something for everyone.
